What would your ideal online bank look like?
A little over 4 years ago we started the project to launch NZ's only specialist online savings and investments bank (we opened our "virtual doors" Feb 2006) and since then quite a bit has changed in the banking landscape, in particular the major high street banks have either launched new online offerings or at the very least have improved their online offerings. Plus more and more people are managing their money online and feel more comfortable doing so.
As part of a global banking organisation we tap into the collective knowledge and experiences of our colleagues overseas, to identify trends, developments and opportunities in online banking. But ahead of this we listen to your feedback to ensure we are best meeting your changing needs.
If I was to ask you to describe your ideal online bank, what would it look like? And what about products, are there any new types of products that you think we should be offering?
We are currently conducting our brand research with a series of focus groups, but at the same time asking them to describe their ideal online bank and it's products - I'd like to extend these questions to you.
To help you get started, here are some of the ideas people have suggested so far:
- Live chat with our customer contact staff
- SMS/text alerts for transactions
- Mobile banking
- Budgeting tools
- New products
- Foreign currency deposit products
- Bonus interest rates for regular savers
- A KiwiSaver offering
Let me know what you'd like to see – post a comment with your top 3 suggestions for what the ideal online bank should look like and your top 3 product suggestions. I'm really keen to hear what you have to suggest and I'll keep you abreast of our plans to implement them.
