Avoid downloading programs from unknown sources
You wouldn't deliberately download software that might compromise the safety of your PC, so the criminal fraternity have developed strategies designed to trick you into it.
Certain websites and applications demand that you download software so as to complete the task, or to be able to utilise the tool.
The rule of thumb here is simple - only download software from places/sites/organisations/people you know and trust.
Downloads may contain hidden programs that can compromise your computer's security, so treat these accordingly.
The same goes for e-mail attachments. What might look like an innocent attachment e.g. photo, could also include harmful hidden programmes and viruses.
Be vigilant.
