Apologies for the delay, but you may recall in a recent post I did about cycling I mentioned putting up some photos from the South Island Downhill in Blenheim.
I’ve put 4 photos up in my RideStrong profile … two showing the cyclists on the course, one of Hermen de Groot (Head of Sales & Marketing – International Direct Banks) and one of the winners of the 40+ category for the championships (if that doesn’t motivate those of us of a similar vintage nothing will).
The Downhill photos are [here].
I also attended the National Track Champs in Invercargill last week. I must say the ILT Velodrome they have there is magnificent and truly world class (this was validated by the fact that national and world records were broken, and a comment from Sarah Ulmer where she said that before the ILT Velodrome was built she knew she could always race significantly faster overseas on better tracks).
And this weekend it’s the RaboPlus Big Coast here in Wellington, which will be my first attempt at any sort of organised cycling event (I’ll give you an update on how it went next week). The RaboPlus Big Coast is non-competitive two day event and suits riders of all levels – hopefully that definition extends as far as me. I’ve even upgraded my 15 year old bike to a new Avanti so that will help!
Let me know what you think!
