RaboDirect at the Blenheim Grape Ride
The final rankings for the RaboDirect RideStrong Ranking Series are up.
Having battled all four seasons throughout the series – including a scorching hot day in Taupo (Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge), a windy nor-wester in Christchurch (Armstrong Festival of Cycling), and a soggy day on the West Coast (Around Brunner) – we have our winners.
Cameron Dunn (Auckland) was crowned the Male Recreational Cyclist of the Year, winning by a slim 11-point lead ahead of Heath Lett.
In the women’s series it was Sarah Carson (Putaruru) who triumphed as Recreational Female Rider of the Year, ahead of Hamilton's Deane Bell.
Congratulations to both Cameron and Sarah for a consistently good series.
In other news, one lucky RideStrong cyclist is off to Tour de France to rub shoulders with the Rabobank elite cycling team!
Congratulations to Vaughan Hunt (Manawatu) who won our much-coveted spot prize, as part of the series. A deserving winner, Vaughan has completed five events in the series and placed 51st overall. Vaughan won the trip for two to Paris in July, where he will be hosted by Rabobank Netherlands on the Champ Elysees – with front row seats for the final sprint up the Parisian avenue.
