Outlook for Investment Markets
Global and local equity markets had a reasonable September, against a backdrop of increasing political tension in the world’s largest economy. In fact the US government has entered its first shut-down in 17 years, facing running into its debt ceiling by October 17, threatening default on some of its obligations. Other asset classes, in particular fixed income, we are affected by the Federal Reserve’s surprise decision not to begin withdrawing stimulus.
